64th Annual Edmonds Arts Festival

Barbara Freeman is happy to have her four Fine Art Miniatures, The Conversation, The Mermaid, You`re Welcome Here, and They Come at Night, juried into the 64th Annual Edmonds Arts Festival! There are more than 400 artists in the indoor galleries in the Frances Anderson Building and more than 160 in booths outside on the festival grounds. Music and food will be offered so bring the whole family to enjoy a day in beautiful downtown Edmonds! Of course, things have been scaled down due to Covid and masks will be required for all indoor venues. Please don't let that stop you, there will be masks available if you've forgotten yours.

Barbara Freeman submitted two new works to this year's Gallery North - Small Works Show 2020, and both have been accepted! They Come at Night is a Fine Art Miniature and Under Scrutiny is a Small Work. Barbara is honored to be in the show!

Sixty-nine accomplished and emerging artists from across the US have submitted nearly three hundred original works of art in a variety of media and technique to be juried for this show. Of these, one hundred and sixty-two pieces, the best of the best, will adorn the walls of Gallery North for the entire month of March. Oils, watercolors, acrylics, ink, block prints, and mixed media pieces, all curated to complement each other, were juried by award winning artist and author Sue Coccia.

Barbara wil be attending the reception on Saturday, March 7th, so stop by, say hello and check out the show!

13th Annual Mini Art Exhibit

One of Barbara Freeman's latest fine art miniatures, Please Remove Shoes Before Entering, will be available at this year's 13th Annual Holiday Mini Art Exhibit! at Ghost Gallery in Seattle! This is Barbara's first year showing at this venue, located in Capitol Hill. The show opens December 12th during the Capitol Hill Art Walk.

The13th Annual Holiday Mini Art Exhibit opens on Thursday, Dec. 12th 5-9pm during the Capitol Hill Art Walk. The Exhibit will remain on view through Sunday, Feb. 10th, 2020. There will be 100's of small works from local and global artists and designers, 95 in total from Seattle and beyond (including Italy, Berlin and Ukraine)! A list of the artists can be found here. All work is 10" x 10" and smaller including framing, affordably priced for gifting, collecting and coveting. The best part is buyers will be able to take home their purchases right away starting Friday, Dec. 13th. This is the perfect time to buy that special art loving someone an original work that is affordable and fits in even the smallest spaces. Just in time for the Holidays. Ghost Gallery, a great place to find something for those difficult to gift folks in your life and you can support the arts and artists! The show runs from September 21st through October 5th at the Mountlake Terrace Library Complex, 23300 58th Avenue West in Mountlake Terrace.(map) The show will be open to the public starting September 21st through October 5th, 2019. The show will be up for two weeks, hope you get a chance to see it. Barbara Freeman will be at the show on Sunday, September 22 from 3 to 5 so stop in and say hello! She would love to meet you! Today is the opening of the 29th Annual Shoreline Arts Festival This year the festival will be in a new location at Shoreline Community College. Barbara Freeman's work, The Exchange has been accepted in their Jurried Show! The show takes place all weekend with lots of fun filled things to do and see. Edmonds Arts Festival 2019

This weekend is the Edmonds Arts Festival 2019, in beautiful downtown Edmonds WA. Barbara Freeman's work, The Exchange was juried in this year's show! To view this work as it was created, click on the link to read the blog post for The Exchange, Work in Progress.

The Edmonds Arts Festival 2019 is a fun filled event held every year over Father's Day Weekend. The annual benefit that supports the arts in the Edmonds community starts on Wednesday, June 12, 6 pm. This is a a kick off Art + Cocktails Benefit Party where you can be among the first to view and purchase jury-selected and award-winning art! Proceeds go to scholarships for art education, and grants for art programs and public art.

This is such a fun festival with artists' booths outside, and three juried galleries inside. There is food, music, dance and activities for the kids! In the galleries inside the Frances Anderson Center you'll find paintings, drawings and miniature art, photography, computer art and three dimensional work. This year the work is mixed together in all three of the rooms, so don't miss the work located in the two rooms a few steps up. Also, you can find the excellent student art show downstairs.

The Edmonds Arts Festival is one of the longest running in the Northwest, attracting artists from across the nation. Profits from the Edmonds Arts Festival are returned to the community through the Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation.

Pets on Parade

Two of Barbara Freeman's miniature paintings will be in the Pets on Parade show at the Schack Art Center in downtown Everett! Pets on Parade is always a fun time, with well behaved pets attending! Also during the exhibit, food and pet accessories will be collected to benefit N.O.A.H and the Everett Animal Shelter.

Barbara's two pet works are Afghan Kitty and Gaze into My Eyes, both Fine Art Miniatures. She will also have other animal work in the show, miniatures and a small work. Many other animals are represented that are not pets. There are over forty artists included in this mixed media show! It will be a real treat!

Lyussy Hyder, curator for The Sisters Restaurant has put together a new group exhibit for Fall. The show, Fantastic! features works of the imagination, including less traditional art, in a variety of media. The show is now open at The Sisters Restaurant, 2804 Grand Ave in Everett, WA, and runs from September 8th to November 3rd 2018.

Barbara Freeman has three works in the show, The Exchange, Time Passages, and Outside In. Freeman's three works are perfect for a show with a title of Fantastic! and works of the imagination.

Sadly, this is the last show that Lyussy Hyder is curating at The Sisters Restaurant. She is retiring from curating but will be in her studio painting as well as sharing her talents at Schack Art Center teaching! Nikki Gardner will be taking over the curator's job at The Sisters starting in 2019. We are looking forward to seeing the shows Nikki Gardner, puts together!

39th Annual Juried Art Show

I can smell the rain! Autumn is almost here and it's time for the 39th Annual Arts of the Terrace Festival at the Mountlake Terrace Library Complex! This year my graphite drawing, The Exchange, was selected in the Drawing, Painting and Prints category! I always look forward to this show. The new hanging panels accentuate the artwork and all the new lighting really makes the color pop and allows all the fine line detail I use to show up!

The show runs from September 23rd through October 8th, at the Mountlake Terrace Library Complex, 23300 58th Ave. W. in Mountlake Terrace. (map) There will be an Artists and Patrons Preview, on September 22, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm, with an Awards Ceremony at 7:30 pm. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be available, along with music by the Battista Brothers. The show will be open to the public starting September 23rd - October 8, 2017. The show will be up for two weeks, hope you get a chance to see it.

There will be an Awards Reception on Saturday, September 16th, from 4 to 7 PM. The Lynn Hanson Gallery is open Friday and Saturday, 12 to 5. The ICON show runs from September 7th to 30th. Barbara will be attending the opening of the show for the Artwalk on September 7th. Stop by to say hello and check out this eclectic show with the many interpretations depicting the theme, ICON It's sure to be fabulous and the Pioneer Square Artwalk is always a fun thing to do!

Barbara Freeman's new work, The Exchange, has been accepted in the Art of the Garden show at the Schack Art Center in Everett WA! This biannual juried exhibit will feature a prolific offering of art created to enhance the garden and bring the garden into the home. The Exchange, an addition to Freeman's ongoing series, Wood Nymphs and Other Curiosities, is an image of a Wood Sprite and Rufus Hummingbird encounter having an exchange of golden strands for whispers.

42nd Annual International Miniature Art Society of Florida Show

This weekend is the opening of the 42nd Annual International Miniature Art Society of Florida Show. Barbara Freeman has had all three of her submitted entries juried in this year's show. Her three works in the show are, Forest Lodge, and two new ones in The Wood Nymph Series, Sylvan Slippers, and Time for Renewal. She is very pleased to announce that her work Forest Lodge was awarded Third Place in Drawing and Pastel!

The 2017 MASF Exhibition will be held at the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art (LRMA). The artwork in this show is always outstanding, created by some of the top artists of Fine Art Miniatures from across the globe! There are approximately 800 works of art in the show, including the society’s permanent collection of more than 100 miniatures. The museum is located at 600 E Klosterman Rd, Tarpon Springs, FL . There will be more than 600 tiny treasures from around the world for this ever-popular juried exhibition.

26th Annual Arts Festival

Barbara Freeman will have two drawings in the 26th Annual Shoreline Arts Festival held on June 25th - 26th at the Shoreline Center. Barbara's two works in the juried gallery are Time Passages, and Special Delivery. The Juried Art Exhibit is one of the highlights of the Arts Festival. It features over 300 artworks from regional artists in 2D, 3D, and photography.

The Shoreline Arts Festival provides two extraordinary days of visual arts, music, hands-on crafts and even a little theater. Plus there will be delicious food trucks. This creative community event, sponsored by the Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Arts Council, is FREE and will be held at the Shoreline Center, 18560 1st Ave NE.



Beer Garden - New this year: After their famous Arts Festival Breakfast (8:30am-11:30am), the Shoreline Senior Center will be reopening its doors for festival goers to come in and enjoy cold beer, bar food, and lively entertainment at the first ever Festival Beer Garden. Performances of clog dancing, folk songs, hula, and more can be enjoyed from both the Beer Garden and the adjacent Family Room. Open 1pm to 6pm on Saturday and 1pm to 5pm on Sunday, it will be the perfect place to beat the summer heat! Hope to see you there!

Barbara Freeman's work, Outside In, has been accepted in the 20th Juried Art Show at the Schack Art Center, in Everett WA. This is a great venue and Barbara is so pleased to have her work included.

This biennial show is a collection of Northwest artists featuring a well-rounded variety of mediums to produce an eclectic and visually stimulating exhibit. The work can be viewed on the Schack website. Scroll down the page to view all the work and the artists links. If you've never visited the Schack Art Center, this is the perfect time. It's gonna be a great show! All the work in the exhibit is for sale. Be sure to check out their fabulous gift shop filled with local art!

Barbara Freeman has had all four of her submitted entries juried in this year's 41st Annual International Miniature Art Society of Florida Show. Her four works in the show are, As Twilight Begins, Capturing the Glow, Nocturnal Flight, and Sanctuary.

She was very pleased to announce that her work, Capturing the Glow was awarded Third Place in Landscape! This show is the largest Miniature Art Show in the USA and there are hundreds of entries from across the globe! This year there were 628 artworks accepted from 203 different artists from 7 countries and 30 US states!

The artworks in this show are outstanding, created by some of the top artists of Fine Art Miniatures from around the world! The show takes place at the Dunedin Fine Art Center, 1143 Michigan Blvd., Dunedin, FL. There is a Collectors Preview on Saturday, January 16th 10AM to 5PM with the Artists Reception following at 5:30. The show runs from January 17th through February 7th, 2016.

THE SPIRIT OF A MINIATURE (Taken from the prospectus) This unique art form, based on a minute scale, traces its roots back to the book paintings and illuminated manuscripts set in the 7th century. A work of fine art in miniature is a particularly personal object that draws the viewer into an intimate, concentrated little world that is breathtaking in its execution. Every single detail is miniaturized – the scale of the subject matter, the brush or pencil strokes – so that only with high magnification can one behold the immaculate details of the artist's technique which may include stippling, hatching or pointillism. These techniques are a specialized means of producing a perfect balance of color and detail in a series of thinly applied layers of exquisite color intended to reflect light. The miniatures show a high standard of design and the artist’s mastery of the chosen media and palette.

Autumn is here officially, and it's time for the 36th Annual Arts of the Terrace Festival in Mountlake Terrace! All of Barbara Freeman's work submitted for the show was juried in! Barbara's four works in the Miniature category are, Crow and Clover, Afghan Kitty, Patience and The Hunter. Her new work, Outside In, was also selected in the Drawing, Painting and Prints category! Exciting news that her work, A Private Residence has taken 3rd Place in Landscape! It is always an honor to receive an award in this show. It is the largest miniature art show in the country and is always well attended!

Her other four works juried in this year's show are Dreamer, Welcome To My Warren (both from the series, Wood Nymphs and Other Curiosities), Always Illuminated and The Hunter.

The show opens on January 20th and runs until February 10th, 2013. Also on view with this show is the Miniature Art Society of Florida's permanent collection of fine art miniatures and the Miniature Artists of America Traveling Exhibit. Pacific Northwest artist, Barbara Freeman has been chosen for inclusion in the 2013 CVG Show in Bremerton’s Collective Vision Gallery. Her work in the show is The Wood Nymph, from her series, Wood Nymphs and Other Curiosities. The annual CVG Show is one of the largest and most prestigious art competitions in the Northwest. Over 325 artists from 79 Washington cities submitted 896 artworks for consideration. Of these only 127 pieces were selected for inclusion in the show. Alfredo Arreguin, an internationally known painter from Seattle is the juror for this year’s competition. Next, Arreguin will choose the recipients of $7,000 in prizes going to 11 artists in multiple categories. Additional prizes include a purchase award by the Kitsap County Arts Board, a $300 People’s Choice Award and a $1,000 Best of Kitsap Award sponsored by the Cultural Arts Foundation Northwest.

Exhibition coordinator Alan Newberg says: “Looking for art that startles the viewer?... that inspires?...Art that fills the mind with intrigue or amazes with technical finesse? You think that art should challenge the social status quo, or touch the soul? Whatever you are after in your visual quest for art, the 2013 CVG Show has it all.” These 127 artists hail from every quarter of our state and exhibit all of the best qualities of contemporary and traditional art.

The 2013 CVG Show be will open to the public Jan 19, 2013 from 1 to 5 pm. The exhibit continues until Saturday, Feb. 23. The gallery will be open Tuesdays – Saturdays 10 to 5 and Sundays 1 to 5. Her three works in the show are, Afghan Kitty, More Salmon, Please and "Peek-A-Boo". The Miniature Painters, Sculptors & Gravers Society of Washington, DC (MPSGS) is the second oldest Miniature Arts Society in the world, the oldest in the United States. This is an exhibit not to be missed! The show is held at The Mansion at the Strathmore, 10701 Rockville Pike, North Bethesda, MD. 11th Annual Unclad Art Show
Celebrating the Nude in Art

Barbara Freeman's three works have been juried into the UNCLAD show taking place in Stanwood, WA in October! UNCLAD 2012 is the 15th Annual Art show dedicated to celebrating the Nude Figure in art. River Siren, Just Between You and Me, and Keeper of the Sphere are all from the series, Wood Nymphs and Other Curiosities. All three works were done using graphite and colored pencil on film using both sides of the surface.

UNCLAD takes place at the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center (map) and runs from October 12th, 13th, & 14th. The show is opens to the public, 10 am to 5 pm (Admission $5 suggested donation). On Friday, October 12th, 6 to 9 pm, there will be the ARTISTS & PATRONS PARTY (tickets $10). On Saturday, October 13th from 6 pm to 9 pm there will be a Wine & Cheese event with Vicki Artimovich, giving a "Nude in Art" lecture (tickets $10). It's a great looking show with over 150 artworks (all nudes) from artists across North America. 34th Annual Juried Art Show

Barbara Freeman has had two drawings, The Wood Nymph and Snail Tales, and four miniatures, Gold and Glory, Keeping Watch, Undaunted, and You Too Shall Have Wings, accepted into the 34th Annual Arts of the Terrace Juried Art Show at Mountlake Terrace. The show will kick off on September 28th, with the Artists and Patrons Preview from 7 to 9 pm with the Awards Ceremony at 7:30. Then, on September 29th through October 7th, 2012 the show is open to the public, Monday to Thursday, 12:00 to 7:00 pm, Friday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Saturday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm,  and Sunday, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The exhibit takes place at the Mountlake Terrace Library Complex, (map), 23300 58th Avenue W., Mountlake Terrace, WA. This is a great show to enjoy viewing paintings, prints, calligraphy, drawings, miniatures, photography and 3-dimensional works by top local and regional artists. Barbara Freeman is excited to have two of her miniature art works, Hideaway, and Waiting, as part of the Miniature Artists of America's (M.A.A.) submissions traveling along with the World Federation of Miniature Artists to the 5th Worldwide Conference and Exhibition of Fine Arts in Miniature, held at the Russian Academy of Art in Moscow, Russia, September, 2012. The show will be opening on September 12th to the 28th. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be much information regarding the show. Hopefully, more imformation will be available at a later date.

In addition to the Miniature Fine Art Exhibit, The Miniature Artists of America’s Traveling Exhibition (MAA) will be on display. This elegant exhibit has been prepared to be shown as an educational tool and contains 35 juried works by 35 Signature artist members. These works have been painted by some of the foremost miniaturists in the United States, England, Canada, and South Africa. Works in this exhibit are not available for purchase.

The LiveARTS Bothell show will be taking place on Saturday and Sunday, June 23rd and 24th. The venue is once again taking place in the same location as last year at the new Mobius Hall Gallery on the beautiful campus of Cascadia Community College and U.W. Bothell.  There will be a Patron Preview Party on Friday June 22nd, from 5:30pm to 8:00pm with an awards presentation. You can make your reservations online at the LiveARTS Bothell website. 55th Annual Edmonds Arts Festival

Barbara Freeman is once again participating in this year's 55th Annual Edmonds Arts Festival. Her four works juried in the Miniatures Category are, Afghan Kitty, Peek-A-Boo, Gold and Glory, and You Too Shall Have Wings. She also has two standard size works juried in the Drawing Category, First Encounter and The Wood Nymph, both from the series, Wood Nymphs and Other Curiosities.

The Juried Art Show will be inside the Frances Anderson Center, 700 Main Street, Edmonds,WA (map here). The Juried Gallery offers a sweeping showcase of art by more than 450 top local and national artists. Barbara Freeman is happy to be part of this show! All art is for sale.

In addition to the indoor Juried Art Show, there is also the outdoor Arts Festival with food, music and artists' booths on the lawn. This fun festival takes place on Fathers' Day weekend, June 15th through the 17th. The Edmonds Arts Festival is one of the longest running in the Northwest, and a great time for the whole family!

Barbara Freeman has four miniatures juried in to Parklane Gallery's 20th Annual International Miniature Art Show. 37th Annual International Miniature Art Show

All five of Barbara Freeman's miniature works have been accepted in this year's 37th Annual International Miniature Art Show. Not only that, but her work, A Flash of Blue has taken 3rd Place in Drawing! Barbara sent her very first submissions to the Miniature Art Society of Florida (MASF) back in 2008 and has had her work each year, juried in the show, out of hundreds of artworks entered. Therefore, it is an honor to receive an award in this show. It is the largest miniature art show in the country and is always well attended!

Barbara's four other works juried in the exhibit are, Through the Portal, Early Autumn, and two new paintings, From the Highlands, and I Got My Eye on You.

The show opens on January 15th and runs until February 5th, 2012. The Miniature Art Society of Florida Exhibition will be held at the Dunedin Fine Art Center, 1143 Michigan Blvd, Dunedin, FL. The hours are, Monday to Saturday, 10AM-5PM, and Sunday 1-4PM.

For the first time, Fredlund Gallery in Winter Park, FL will be hosting the Miniature Artists of America Traveling Exhibition, from February 19th through March 19th, 2011.  This MAA Traveling Exhibit recognizes leading contemporary miniature artists and its purpose is to broaden public understanding and appreciation of this ancient art form.  The exhibit consists of 85 pieces of Miniature Art owned by the "Miniature Artists of America".  Exhibit Coordinator, Wes Siegrist said, "Although the exhibit is usually displayed in museums, the quality of the Fredlund Gallery makes it an appropriate venue". Her three works juried in this show are, Innocence, A Touch of Autumn, and A Flash of Blue. There will be over 800 works in the exhibition this year, so Barbara was thrilled when she received notice that her graphite work, A Flash of Blue was awarded First Place in Drawing! Barbara Freeman will have four miniatures and two larger works in the Live ARTS Bothell Juried Art Exhibit this June. Of her four works in the Miniature Art Category, two are new acrylic paintings, Always Illuminated, and from the Italian Landscape Series, Over and Beyond. The other miniatures, The Silent Ones, a silverpoint, and In Fair Condition, colored pencil, are two favorites. Her two larger works in the Drawing Category, one in graphite, It's Not All Black and White, and the other a work in metalpoint, Sculpted by Time are also both new works that have not been exhibited before! This year's venue has changed due to renovations being done to Bothell Landing where the show usually takes place. Instead it will be held at the new Mobius Hall Gallery on the campus of Cascadia Community College and U.W. Bothell. The art fair takes place June 26 and 27th, 10am to 6pm. There will be a Patron Preview Party on Friday June 25th, from 6:00pm to 8:30pm. Please call for reservations at 425-488-2787 by June 11th. The college is located one mile east of downtown Bothell (directions and map here). The Live ARTS Bothell Art Fair is always great fun, with musical entertainment, great food and ART! The Seaside Art Gallery of the Outer Banks, NC has accepted three of Barbara Freeman's miniatures into their 18th International Miniature Art Show, one of the top three miniature shows in the USA.
